So i recently reinstalled Black ops 3 after upgrading from a 1080p 60Hz generic monitor to a 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor. However, while playing, I somehow lag WAY more with V-Sync off in game than with it on. It is unplayable with V-sync off in game and I have made sure G-Sync was enabled with the indicator in nVidia control panel. I made sure that my refresh rate was set to 144Hz and the display set to 2560x1440p as well. What I have noticed was that with V-Sync off, my FPS goes up and down max 120 FPS to lowest, 60 FPS. However with V-Sync on, the FPS stays around 80 or above but I still lag but not as much. Also, seeing in the task manager, disk usage stays 90% and up while I am playing which I do not know is normal or not and in custom lobbies by myself, no lag at all whatsoever with or without V-Sync. Please help thank you in advance!

My Build:
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LK
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 TI
PSU: EVGA 1000P2 1000Watt
HDD: Seaggate Barracuda 1TB
Monitor (If Needed): Dell S2716DGR 27" Gaming Monitor

Solution
Nvidia designed G-Sync to work hand in hand with Vsync and in the begining you couldn;t even turn it off. It was customer pressure that promted NV to provide the option of disabling Vsync.
That being said, most games work better with both enabled, while some work better without Vsync. It's up to you to decide on a per-game basis.

Oh that clears some things up. But would the reason I still lag even with V-Sync on be on server side?

With your setup, most likely. Do you lag in single player aswell?

After starting it up a little in the beginning but other than that, completely smooth with a little lag when theres a lot of people
