G sync or 240hz?

I wanted to get the expensive asus rog swift pg258q monitor that has g sync and also 240hz. I have a tv right now with which I get terrible screen tearing. So I want a 240hz monitor but I searched up g sync and I thought if I get the same hz as I get in fps I will never get 240hz. So is it worth it? Can I get 240hz without having the same fps? Will it really make a difference? I dont believe its worth it(if i can) to disable g sync if its so expensive and thats the whole point of the cost. If you have any nice monitors you can recommend I am interested. I want display port 1.2 or 1.3, 1920x1080 and 240hz and if its possible eye care that the asus monitor has. I have a gtx1080 just saying if it helps

Honestly I'd just get the Asus PG248Q. It's 180Hz, which is more than enough for a gtx 1080 and has G-sync. Also, it is $130 cheaper.

Are you buying this for games like PUBG, Overwatch, or BF1? If not, then you don't really need the high refresh rate.

I play competitive shooters as well as strategy games so I would consider the higher refresh rate. But my question is what does it mean g sync and 240hz? That it can reach up to 240hz if I have 240 fps?

Don't think you'll actually get 240fps in games. And would you notice difference in 180fps vs 240fps? doubt it. I'd stick to the 180Hz version.

Gsync makes the game more fluid, and 240Hz means you can display up to 240fps.

I am between the Alienware AW2518H screen that has 240 hz and g sync but doesn't have eye care and the ASUS one. To be honest I am all about that eye care technology right now. Is it worth? I play quite a lot of hours or almost all my free time on gaming so I curious if its worth.

"eye care" sounds like marketing gimmick. I wouldn't pay attention to it.

Thank you for your answers! I got my new monitor and I believe 240hz is super smooth. Jumping from 60hz to 240hz its a new experience
