G-Sync vs. Non G-Sync

Hello -

I recently built a new gaming PC and was curious about whether or not to get a G-Sync gaming monitor. My computer has a i5-8600k 3.6GHz CPU and a GeForce GTX 1070 Superclocked ACX 3.0 graphics card. The website I built it on bench marked it to run around 140-147 FPS on majority of games.

I am looking at getting a 2560x1440, 144Hz, 1ms monitor and the G-Sync versions cost around $200+ more. I was curious to know if it's even worth it if I am going to be averaging around 140FPS to begin with and using a 144Hz monitor and if screen tearing should be a concern.

Solution
My 1060 doesn't make the most of 144hz in most games, however experiences minimal screen tearing. You can limit screen tearing in games by limiting the max FPS so that the FPS remains constant as well.
As others have said, above 100hz, screen tearing becomes less noticeable. So between limiting the games max FPS and ensuring the FPS is high-ish, you should be fine without G-Sync.
