G0 Q6600 -- Can we expect any deals/rebates soon?

I intend to pick one of these up for my new build. However, currently there are no deals or rebates available (beyond the newegg/clubit prices, that is). Before I go dropping nearly three-hundred for this chip...anyone expecting a good deal or rebate offer to pop up in the next week or two?

Thanks.

I really really doubt it.
When the G0 chips came out, the older chips simply went up in price as supply ran out.

I expect the same next time.
However, the Penryn should come in at the same price or cheaper.

I read some of the lower end Penryn Quads may even come in under the Q6600 in price. But that is all rumor and guess work.

To tell you the truth there is no need for a rebate. This chip is worth it. I have one and love the crap out of it.

But if you want you can wait till early 2008 to get the 2.66GHz Yorkfield equivalent that is set to be the same price. But still that is 2-3 months away.

listen as an intel share holder i feel the q6600 should sell for over $500 as a computer user i would pay $500 for the chip

as a computer builder i think the $300-$500 price is fair

why is it $279

intel means to cripple amd - that is the only reason i can think of!
