G07 low red output?

Hey all!

Does anyone out there have advice for a G07 monitor that has a very low red
output? I have narrowed it down to either the deflection board or the neck
board as I swapped out another deflection board/neck board last night and
the red color was fine.

I have already done a cap kit and replaced the flyback and HOT on the "low
red" deflection board which did not solve the problem. And I have of course
tried the various adjustments on the neck board and the main brightness
control...if I turn the brightness up any higher, it is too bright, and the
red adjustment on the neck board is turned up as high as it will go.

Any other places to look, resistors to check, etc.?

Jon,

Remove all three LARGE resistors around the transistors on the neck
board. Sandpaper the legs a bit and reinstall them. Don't forget to
test the red drive POT.

Oh, and just to be thorough test the resistors for consistant
impeadence readings among the three. And reflow any solder that looks
suspect.

It could be a bad red gun inside the tube. If you know someone local with a
decent CRT rejuvenator they could test it for you.

I don't think it's the red guns as the second deflection board/neck board
unit I swapped in there last night brought the red color back to full
intensity.

Of course, my knowledge of how these things work is still somewhat limited
(although I'm better than I was a few years ago).

Also make sure that the Red Driver transistor dose not have a cold
solder joint or the driver control pot is dirty in spots. If you don't
own a transistor checker it is kind of hard to check for gain. You can
use a scope and an Isolation transformer for the scope. Look at the
in/out of each transistor..red/green/blue.

Or just replace it.

swap the red drive transistor on the neck board with the blue/green one and
see if it changes, if so, change the tranny..
