G3258 Compatibility with MSI H97I Motherboard

Hello!
I've got a problem with the above combination. I'm not sure if it's either the CPU at fault or the motherboard at fault, but I am unable to boot to BIOS when I turn it on. All the fans are spinning, just no boot screen.

Do I need to flash the BIOS or should it already be compatible?

According to http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H97I_AC.html#support-cpu it is compatible. I've heard that some motherboards require a BIOS update before being able to use the anniversary edition CPU. Is this one of them?

Usually they say the bios version needed in the support list.
