Hi everybody. I'm new over here. Bought G3258. Overclocked it very successfully. Got 4.6 GHz But found out that one of the cores gives such message in Device Manager: Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

Tried to update the driver, but had no success. Here's the thing - I have the message but still have 4.6 GHz. The stress test is wonderful.

So, the questions are:

What does it mean for my PC.?
Is it harmful?
How to fix it?

Also I have another PC with G3258, MSI z87-G41 pc mate which I can not overclock. Might it be because of the DDR3 (1600 MHz)? It freezes at 3.7 GHz as I remember. To be exact, after it freezes, I can not even start the pc. Have to run 3.2 GHz.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't really think that g3258 runs on one core on your pc. Download speccy and open up CPU menu. There you can see on what freq your cpu cores are running. If they both are working then it might be just a bug. Also try swapping CPU with your 2 builds.
Also about gaming, G3258 without OC can chew Syndicate on med settings IF you limit fps to ~40 with tools. Unity on the second hand works terrible.

I have a G3258 build.
1st case, I have no idea whats going on. I never saw something like one core refuses to work. Maybe by overclocking it broke. Maybe it just shows that that core can't be initialized but it actually works. In any case its impossible for only one core out of two to be active. Might be a bug.
2nd case, I also tried OC my CPU but it caps at 4.0GHz for me. It was a budget build so I bought cheap PC case with 500W PSU (~22€)and I still think that limits the OC. Max I can achieve is 4.0GHz with 1.2V Vcore. I believe a good PSU can let me OC it even more with same Vcore but I don't need it for now. It's not a mobo problem as other people had no problems OCing this CPU to 4,5GHz with my current mobo+cpu combo.

Thanks for your answer. Both my PCs are budget builds. Do you think 1 core can run at 4.6GHz and let me play some games like Assassin's Creed?

Thanks for your advices. I'll try to do that. Sorry for my long silence. Was too busy these days. Thanks again.
