Right now the Logitech G402 and SteelSeries Rival 300 are both $35 on PCPP, but I'm very inexperienced when it comes to gaming mice. I know that the G402 has more buttons and a better sensor, but which one will last longer? I don't really give a crap how it performs day one, the thing I care about is the performance being consistent for as long as possible before failing (ideally 3-5 years). I can't really find much information in this regard with simple research, so if somebody with experience with both companies or has a hunch on which will last longer that'd be great. The last thing I want to do is buy a mouse that'll quit on me in like a year.

My mouse, keyboard, mousepad, headset, and speakers are all Logitech and they have been going strong for a year now. I would definitely recommend Logitech. There stuff is usually very high quality.

I have had 2 mice since ~2006 until this week. First a Logitech G5 that I used for several years and which is still working fine. Then a Logitech G600 that has now failed after 3½ years of heavy use.

I haven't had much experience with Steelseries mice, but I've had 2 headsets from them which both stopped working relatively fast. Now I'm on a Sennheiser headset that's outlasted those two by like 3X.
