G450 flickers with one mobo but not with another

I have two systems -- one built on an ASUS CUV4X-E and a new system I just
built on an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe. My G450 works perfectly on the CUV board.
However, when I installed it in my new system on the P4P board, I got a
flicker on the monitor. The flicker is most pronounced when the cursor goes
over links and buttons on web pages.

A friend loaned me his G450 for the purpose of testing. The friend's G450
works perfectly on both boards -- no flickering on the P4P system. I would
conclude from this that my G450 is faulty, but I'm curious why -- if it's
faulty -- it isn't producing any flicker on the system with the CUV board
when it does produce flickering on the P4P board.

Both systems are running XP Home, same Matrox driver (exactly the same
settings), same monitor, etc.

Anyone have a clue what's going on here? Why wouldn't the flicker show up
on both systems?

Thanks for any help.

Tod,

Here's all the info on the two cards:

G450 that works on CUV but NOT on P4P board:
SN PAQ76047
BIOS: 2.0b36
(BIOS NOTE: I just flashed to this BIOS at the suggestion of Matrox tech
support. BIOS was 1.6b29. BIOS change did not change flicker.)
Number on board: 975-0201 REV:A
G45+MDHA32DB

G450 that works on CUV and on P4P board:
SN PAV84499
BIOS 1.6b29
Number on board: 975-0201 REV:A
G45+MDHA32DB

Driver package on both CUV and P4P machines: 5.92.006

In troubleshooting this problem, I tried two or three previous Matrox
drivers, including 5.8x (I don't have the version numbers in front of me
now). In addition, I get the flicker on the P4P system when the generic XP
driver is used.
