G4560 OR Intel Core i7 4th generation OR AMD Ryzen 5?

Solution
GPU is kind of weak so TBH you aren't going to see huge performance differences with those processors as your gaming will be quite GPU limited.

A 4th gen i7 I would not build a new system with, its 3 (almost 4) generations behind. The G4560 pairs well with the 750ti. However if you can afford it the Ryzen 5 is the best choice. More cores and threads than the G4560 and as newer games come out they should begin to favor it.

pretty major price difference between these choices. The i7 is probably a bit more powerful game wise of the three. However since it is two, soon to be three generations behind the curve it makes far more sense to go with a Ryzen 5 so you can use all modern components like DDR4 and NVME SSDs.

Remember you will be changing:

1) CPU
2) Motherboard
3) System Memory (i.e. DDR4)
4) Windows license (may or may not transfer... it's not supposed to but some people have it work for Windows 10)

If you go with AMD RYZEN (which I recommend) you want two sticks of DDR4, 3200MHz. For example, 2x4GB or 2x8GB 3200MHz.

It's hard to give advice without a BUDGET, but the cheapest CPU I'd get is the R5-1400 though I'd rather you saved up for an R5-1600 which in theory could last five to ten years.

As said your dGPU is weak anyway, so I wouldn't bother unless replacing that.

*I'm sure this may be too EXPENSIVE but it's what I'd save up for (or similar):

R5-1600
AM4 motherboard
2x8GB 3200MHz DDR4
GTX1060 6GB (or better)
etc

*For NOW if budget is low you may want to just get a better FM2+ CPU (not APU).

That's the same as the CPU portion of your APU in architecture but it has 2x the cores/modules. It's not a top-end CPU but it's a lot better than what you have now, so it may help tide you over as you save up for a new PC?

Yeah I guess Ryzen seems to be the best buy for now but I am considering how long I can save money before I can afford buying those parts because I do need them for my video editing major class next semester which is a 2 more months from now

The 750Ti was a bad decision though I bought it in February because I wasn't expecting for the more powerful 1050Ti was available in our country a month later which was a few dollars more

Highly disagree with spending $100 on a dead platform. This is a waste of money, especially that its not much faster than what he has.

Save your money get the Ryzen, do not waste your money on this.

Not much faster?
Right now he's got a 2-core CPU, and this is a 4-core of the same architecture so it's going to make a big difference for his usage.

And if you read my posts I'm recommending it if he doesn't have the current BUDGET to upgrade to a good system, which he does NOT appear to have...

"..how long I can save money before I can afford buying those parts.."

So he basically doesn't have the money so he can either spend $100 on his current rig to get him by for now, or he has to save up for the new PC which may or may not be possible. Or he saves up a SMALLER amount than recommended and does a much smaller upgrade like an R3-1200 CPU which is about the SAME as a slightly overclocked X4-860K.

In fact, unless the programs are well threaded, a slightly overclocked X4-860K is almost as good as an R5-1400 Ryzen CPU.

PASSMARK SCORES:
A4-6300 (CPU portion)
ST: 1367
Total: 2267

X4-860K
ST: 1597
total: 5467

R3-1200
ST: 1719
total: 6875

R5-1600
ST: 1829
total: 12367

For most programs SINGLE THREAD (ST) matters the most, and the X4-860K isn't that bad as a $100 upgrade, especially again when he doesn't even have the money yet for a new PC.

Just stop I'm gonna call BS on this too. Not even VAGUELY is the x4 860k "Almost as good" its not. You can't be serious bringing out passmark benchmarks which are completely and utterly meaningless in the real world.

The Ryzen demolishes the x4 860k. I hesitate to use userbenchmark to prove this but at least it uses real world tests. And thats the 1400.

Or how about EVERY benchmark here:

Spending $100 on a dead platform when you could be saving that towards a serious upgrade is a really dumb move, period.
