GA-78LMT-S2P and the AMD FX4130

Hi there,

I just finished building my dad a PC (first time builder) and noticed that my CPU clocked speed was significantly lower than retailed: the 4130 is supposed to clock at 3.8 with mine coming in at 2.8. Having looked around a bit, I've seen this might be something to do with combining the CPU with this motherboard. Being totally new to this (and inherently stupid), I was wondering if anyone knew whether this was likely the case, and if so, was there a way of getting the motherboard to not limit the CPU so.

Again, I'm an idiot and should have researched these things a lot better, but I would hugely appreciate any help or advice!

There are three motherboard revisions of the GA-78LMT-S2P. The FX-4130 is not supported on any of them. You would need to use a AM3+ CPU with a 95 watt TDP rating. The Thermal Design Power (TDP) is the average maximum power a processor can dissipate while running commercially available software. TDP is primarily used as a guideline for manufacturers of thermal solutions (heatsinks/fans, etc) which tells them how much heat their solution should dissipate. The FX-4130 has a 125 watt TDP rating.

The motherboard CPU Support List will tell you which processors are supported.
