So I've tried to build a custom computer, this is my first time and I've done it I have:
AMD-FX 6300
GA-78LMT-USB Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix (2x4GB)
EVGA (500W)
Radeon R7 240 (OC)
Vivo Mid Tower
I have not gotten a post at all yet does my motherboard even have the right BIOS for my CPU?
I'm just thinking about buying a new motherobartd because I don't have much time.

Solution
You memory is fine with that motherboard (which I own). It may not say compatible on Gigabyte's website but they haven't tested all available memory. Here's a list of all memory Crucial guarantees to be compatible for it.

As has been said make sure everything is plugged into the motherboard correctly. There's no motherboard speaker so you can't rely on beep codes to tell you what's going on unless you can find one to plug into it. If that doesn't work unplug all your drives (optical, hard drive or SSD) and see if it will post. If it does there's a problem with one of those. Try a different SATA cable and a different port one at a time. If that doesn't...
Hello,

I had the same problem with an old desktop I had. The motherboard contains the BIOS and you need the right CPU compatible with the motherboard. The BIOS has nothing to do with the CPU. I have one question. What type of RAM are you using?

I'm using Crucial Ballistix

I mean are you using DDR3 or DDR4?

Oops I accidentally clicked pick solution but, I'm using DDR3 Ram

I have unselected your best answer since you said it was a mistake. You have to see and tell us what revision your motherboard is. Some early AM3+ motherboard might require BIOS update PRIOR to installing Vishera CPUs like yours. Your motherboards revision should be a white sticker on the motherboard probably located on a corner. Tell us the revision and I will look into it.

Your RAM should be fine. As long as they are DDR3 and installed properly you should be fine. I've put low budget Samsung RAM in about 5 motherboards AMD and Intel and they were fine. If RAM is not on the support list of the motherboard, it means they have not tested the RAM, it does not mean it's not going to work.

No sticker to be found 🙁

Revisions available for your motherboard are : rev. 4.1 , rev. 5.0 , rev. 6.0 . It should be written on the motherboard. All manufacturers do this. It can be a sticker somewhere on the motherboard or even printed on it.

okay found it I have rev 6.0

But I can't even get to that point there's no display.

Okay so motherboard should be fine if it is that revision. Next things to check and double check all the connections including front panel cables. If something was not seated properly, the motherboard speaker should have given you a beep code.

Try a different SATA cable and a different port one at a time. If that doesn't work pull one of your RAM sticks, check to see if it posts and if it doesn't try it in a different slot and if that doesn't work try the other stick of RAM (process of elimination). The board also has built in video. You can also try pulling the video card and using the onboard to see if that's in. Again, process of elimination.
