Hiya, pretty new here. I'll get down to the point though;

The issue I'm having is that my old reliable Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 4.1 motherboard is not recognizing a new CPU, specifically an AMD FX-4350 Vishera. Upon startup, my desktop will beep boop as it normally does, the same as it does every day, but nothing beyond that. I can hear the CPU fan whirring... but that's it. Nothing else boots up.

But as soon as I took it out and plopped in my old Phenom X4 840, everything booted up perfectly fine and normally with no issues whatsoever. I'm an amateur PC builder so I'm hoping I just did something wrong.

I know for a fact that this motherboard supports the CPU, as I found it listed in the supported CPU list and have seen one or two forum posts on the internet about people using the same setup. And I know this mobo supports AM3, AM3+, FX, Phenom and Athlon cpus.

I thought maybe I just need to update the BIOS, though as I was searching I found that my BIOS is already completely up to date (Version F4). The Vishera states that it needs F3 (or at least I think so, it's in French for some reason) to run which makes no sense to me because so does the Phenom II X4 840... which is the one I'm using right now which is working without any issue.

I've tried to re-seat it a few times, I unplugged and re-plugged power cables. I'm not sure what else to do, as said I'm only an amateur PC builder. I can't find any real reason why my Mobo isn't recognizing the new CPU, unless I'm that lucky 0.01 percent and got sent a dead processor.

System specs;
Windows 7 64-bit
2 sticks of 4gig memory
GeForce GTX 750 Ti Factory Super-clocked GPU
AMD Phenom II X4 840 CPU
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard

Solution
Alright, finally got it working. What I had to do was reset the BIOS to factory default and re-seated -all- of my PC components. Leaving them disconnected for several minutes, then hooking them back in and leaving them sit for several more minutes before powering up. Working so far right now, hopefully it stays that way.

F4 Bios. Is it safe to downgrade to F3? I thought it wasn't necessary as my phenom 840 which also needs F3 is running perfectly fine on F4.
