Would like some help on troubleshooting my issue. Bought a kit from newegg.com. Has a GA-880GM-USB3 MOBO. I cannot get any video. From what I can tell, all of my cables are correctly connected. I have triple checked. I don't get any beeps either. Fans do spin. CPU doesn't get hot enough ( I have been told by AMD support) for the fan to spin. Although I can tell there is power to it because it spins about an 1/8 of a turn and then stops about every 5 seconds. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to send this back unless I have to. Thanks.

I went through the post as well titled "System won't boot" and "no video output" checklist" and can't see where I have missed anything. My board has 8 pins and my PSU has 2x4 pins so I have plugged both of those in. I have also connected them individually but still the same thing, no video. I installed the standoffs, using on-board video, tried just one stick of RAM and swapped the RAM, verified in owners manual, regarding RAM, I read both the AMD manual and MOBO manual before installing the processor and have also swapped out processors in the past (not my first rodeo), but still in need of help...anyone please? Perhaps the MOBO is bad?

No. You may simply need to flash the bios to run the new 4100. This cpu is so new that existing inventories of motherboards don't have the proper bios file to run it. I would look for a sempron 140 on craigslist for $25 and flash the bios. It's easier than sending the board back or requesting an rma from gigabyte. Most new boards need the bios update to run any of the new bulldozer cpus, so it's not unusual.

You have the option of shipping the motherboard to the manufacturer as an rma (return merchandise authorization) to flash the bios for you or finding the cpu I mentioned and flashing the bios yourself. It costs about the same to do either option, so it's your choice. You can't check the bios version when you order a new motherboard. Sorry for the problem but you're not alone. I don't know of any way to flash the bios if the board won't post. If there's a way, do some research or email tech support for your board on the manufacturer's website. If you use the proper form, they will usually answer in 24-48 hours.

O1die sounds right on this one. I have contacted Gigabyte support. This is what they said. Hopefully they won't mind me posting it.

"Dear customer,
It could be board still comes with old bios which needs update to support AM3+ FX processors.
Basically all our new shipment board bios have been updated to support AM3+ FX processors, but we are not able to tell if the board you purchased from the vendor still has old shipment.
Any chance you can test boot with a non Fx processor ? We understand that you may not have a non Fx processor available. Please refer to our warranty service, whether replace mother board from the vendor or submit RMA request, our RMA technician will update the latest bios to mother board for you. Log on rma.gigabyte-usa.com go to end-user, click on add new request fill out and submit request form our RMA dept will assign RMA# and shipping instruction by email."

This IMO is a great reply or response from gigabyte support. I am very impressed. My only concern, and this is not giagybte's issue, is what if I get this back from them and there is still something wrong? I would then most likely be out of the 30 day return policy for newegg.com. I now need to contact them to see what they want me to do.
