I have a computer built on the rev. 2 version of this motherboard.
I have the computer set up to dual boot Win99se and WinXP Pro.
Working in W98 this afternoon, I tried to log on to the Internet but
failed. Reset my DSL modem and also my router, but still no connection.
I checked the router status and it indicated it was connected.
I then tried to see other computers on my local network, but could not
see the network. I then checked the device manager and found a yellow
question mark next to the LAN controller. I attempted to reinstall the
Intel Pro 100/1000 drivers from the Gigabyte disk but they were not
accepted.
I then booted to WinXP and found the same situation, no LAN connection.
I took a look at the LAN jack on the back of the computer and found no
lights around it (don't know if this is abnormal as I never looked
before. I also tried to reintall the drivers in XP but again they did
not install.
The device manager in both operating systems will find the card, but
will not install the drivers. I attempted to remove the LAN controller
from both operating systems, force recognition, and force reintallation,
but that did not work either.
Lastly, I checked the BIOS (v. FJ) and found the the onboard hardware
LAN is set to enabled.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. I have sent a similar
note to Gigabyte support.
