I went from an EVGA AMD board to the DQ6 (E6600 proc) and kept my CD-RW drive. After installing Windows XP Pro, it turns out my CD-RW was no longer recognized as a burner, but it can still read CDs. I looked it up online and found a neat Regedit fix, but it didn't work. I figured that maybe my CD-RW was busted, so I got a much needed DVD-RW. Installed it, and I got the same problem! DVD-RW is not recognized as a burner. Both drives work using Nero 7 so it's really not a huge problem, but I can't drag/drop in to the drives, which I don't do. But it bugs me that Windows is bugged. I WOULD try a reinstall but I don't see how that would work since it happened directly after the last reinstall and getting my computer back to normal is a week-long process.
I'd like to note that I have a RAID-0 setup, and a backup SATA2 HDD. I know that the IDE port shares some of the same resources as the SATA ports, especially the external SATA. I asked Gigabyte about it and they can't figure it out. I tried using some of the BIOS options that changed the way SATA and IDE ports behave, but I lost my RAID temporarily, or I'd lose my CD drives alltogether. So there's only one way for them to run together.
Anyone else have this problem?
