Ram is Mushkin 996525 2GB Kit DDR2-1000 XP2-8000, water on: cpu, ram, nb and sb.

Ram has spd 500mhz entries. Latest BIOS, F9. (This is the 3rd set of different mfg ram I've had on this motherboard and all act similar, in that the rated settings are not realizable.)

I have had all the voltages and mem timings through their gamut of adjustmests. I have thermocouples on all water block exits and at the supply manifold and everything looks really fine temperature wise, as well as chip temp readings.

The attached jpg shows the settings where I can run all the stability checks 24-7 with no probs. Right now cpus run at 52C during 100% load. If I add 2mhz on the fsb, I can't get through the bios.

I have the multiplier down one click because that is my best cpu/ram performance point. Doesn't matter what I do (multiplier, timings, voltages) I can't get to a 450mhz or 500mhz clock... even if I drop the multiplier to 6... although I can get about 10mhz more on the fsb with a 6 multiplier.

The problem is getting the BIOS to run with the higher FSB settings. If I try for a faster FSB I either can't get to the White Screen, or the White Screen comes up, is non-responive, and then the power just keeps cycling, or some combination of the preceeding conditions.

If I use Gigabyte's Easy Overclock 5, or whatever they call it, I have run the processor past 4.1Ghz with no stability problems..............except: I have to reset the BIOS to get it to boot the next time power is cycled. Even if I use Easy Overclock 5 to reset the BIOS to initial settings, it is still doing something to the BIOS that won't allow a sucessful run on the next power on.

The real problem is getting through the bios with the faster FSB... and thus RAM settings.... even though the RAM speed is well within ratings.

I have Googled the web and found some very high overclocking claims for the DQ6. I've tried to contact some of the posters, but evidently they have moved on, or are dis-inclined to answer.

So, if you have any ideas, PLEASE give me a hand with this.

Thanks,

i heard that on that mobo some of the earlier bioses can achieve higher overlcocks that the latest F9. F9 introduced more compatibility but made it less stable than some of the earlier ones.

i know on the ds3 that F5 is a good bios, i think the equivalent bios for the DQ6 would be F4. i would try F4, F5, F6, F7 and see where that gets you.

you have dual bios on your mobo so if anything goes wrong you always have a spare bios to boot from should anything go wrong.

i prefer stability myself as opposed to speed. i have a DS4 mobo with F5 bios.

good luck
