Hello,

I bought this stuff from newegg:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz LGA 775
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX
ASUS EN7600GS SILENT/HTD/256M GeForce 7600GS 256MB
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel

Now everything's in new case and everything's look OK. But when I turn power on - NOTHING.... I mean fans are spinning but can't see anything on LCD and graphic card won't beep.

Does anyone know why? TY

Take everything out/Disconnect everything besides M/B power connectors and the CPU... Get any beeps? Then add one stick on RAM... Get any different beeps? Add the Vid Card. Get any different beeps? Maybe switch the RAM sticks around in all the slots each power cycle. Basic troubleshooting, dude! The process of elimination.

As Tool suggests it could be memory. Can you get your hands temporarily on some other DDR2 mem?

Or maybe.... you did connect the 4 pin CPU power, didn't you?

Well, the only thing connected from power supply is the long "ATX" thing. No 4 pin "P12 or P10" thingie.

It could be memory problem but I can't get another DDR2 stick right now - gotta buy it tomorrow. :(

I'll try what u said and will remove all things but CPU...

However - only the ATX (long white thing) should be connected to MB from power supply - right?

Ay yi yiu! I would call you a beloved patriot with computers (not trying to offend). First build right? Well, we all make mistakes on our first try with anything.

See the 4 pin connector at the top of the mobo near your CPU? Connect that, problem solved.

No RAM problem, no need to buy new RAM, no need to disconnect everything. Should run sweet.

Aha! Methinks you have a PSU that doesn't conform to the ATX standards. I'm guessing you didn't upgrade your PSU? All PSUs that conform to the ATX standard (I'm pretty sure all ATX revisions specified a P4 connector?) have a "P4" connector. Click here and look at the "4 Pin Molex P4 12V Power Connector".

Without this connected, you won't POST.

And if you didn't upgrade your PSU... then do it! As you will find in a hundred places on these forums, a high-quality PSU is ESSENTIAL in a demanding system. I would recommend a 500W PSU *minimum* for your setup. Go with Seasonic or OCZ or Thermaltake or Silverstone... or something like that... A good brand. Read some reviews!

I have this:
COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power RS-430-PMSR/P 430W Power Supply - Retail

The 4pin "P4" thing won't fit the 4 pin "hole" on my mobo.

I disconnected everything but CPU and there's no beep....

Hmm...the power supply (and I would recommend an upgrade as well) should be compatible with the board, including the 4 Pin Molex P4. You should be inserting the cable (what you have labeled as P12 on your picture) right alongside the main 20-pin power cable, if you haven't done that before.

I imagine you've probably done that, however, which means there's another problem (which your previous messages and the note on your picture seem to suggest). I had a similar set up with similar problems. Let me guess: you get two types of POST issues.

1. Fans spin, hard drive kicks in too (but stops after a while), but nothing appears on the screen, no beeps, and nothing happens, no POST, but the machine stays on indefinitely.

2. Fans spin, hard drive kicks in, but only for a couple seconds when everything shuts down. It then restarts after a couple seconds. Repeats this over and over again. Still no POST.

If you're getting this, unfortunately, this is a problem with the motherboard, nothing else. Your RAM is fine. I have the same kind, and it works fine on 965 boards. Return the board and get a new one, or go for an Asus P5B-E, which took care of my problems instantly.

Good luck!

Try taking out the M/B battery let it sit for like a minute also while it is out reset the CMOS via jumper, let all that sit for a minute but back in restart. if you can get it loaded do not shut down the pc, flash to latest bios, i must say this is unlikely to work but i have actually had that same problem and tried this method and it worked...i dunno.

Ok.... here's what I think's going wrong. The ATX power connector to your motherboard is a 20 conductor connector. The socket is a 24 conductor connector. The P12 connector should plug in to the 4 free holes in the MB socket, then the pink connector should plug in to your P4 socket on the MB.

You may need to experiment by moving the ATX power connector to the "other end" of the socket, then put the P12 connector on the other side. If that makes sense....

Either way, the P4 connector MUST be in the P4 socket for your PC to POST.

Yes, #1 and 2 are exactly my problems. I'll get new MB then - thanks a lot for help. :)

StacyD, you wrote that the 4-pin power connector did not fit, which seems real strange, did you try turning it 90 degrees clockwise/counter-clockwise to ensure the socket orientation was correct...with the latch on the socket and connector matching?

Not trying to patronize I've just never seen a 4-pin that wouldn't seat in a 4-pin connector socket. ...and without that, your PC will not POST.

I have the DS3 model of your motherboard, and there aren't too many significant differences besides the solid copacitors. The only time I can't get my board to post is when I set my ram timings to the 4-4-4-12 settings that they're designed for, even with increased voltages it won't post.

Can you verify the orientation you've tried on that 4-pin connector...latch-to-latch?

Tried everything - With 4pin "P12" cable connected right next to 20pin "ATX main" cable and 4pin "P10" connected right next to CPU ---> infinite restart loop.

W/o "P10" cable connected next to CPU ---> no post, no beep no nothing... but PC will stay on forever.
