Ethernet port not even detected by PC as if it's not there at all

Is the wired network adapter listed under "Network Adapters" in Device Manager" or is it listed as "unknown device" (? symbol)?

If listed as unknown device, try reinstalling it's driver (Realtek LAN Driver):

Is it enabled in the bios? If so, do you have the driver installed for it? It's possible that the onboard ethernet controller went dead. In this case you can replace it with a standard NIC (network interface card).
