Mobo: GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G, stock cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengance 3000MHz
SSD: Samsung Evo M.2 256GB
GPU: on board; HDMI out to a dell 24" monitor
PSU: Streacom150 150W fanless

This is what I thought should be a very simple setup: mobo+RAM+CPU+SSD - that's all!

I have been unable to get anything out of this setup; after careful installation I powered the system and saw a very brief white flash followed by the CPU fan spin up and then.... nothing. The monitor is black, there are no lights on either the mobo or CPU fan (I believe there is a small red ring on AMD Wraith/stock cooler?) and the only sign of life is a spinning fan.

The next thing I did was to plug in a power LED and diagnostic speaker in order to see if I the mobo would spit out any diagnostic sounds, but... nothing. The LED is a solid colour and there is no sound from the Speaker.

I then thought that my PSU perhaps might be a bit underpowerd so I stuck a 250W PSU and I got the same result: a brief flash of light from the mobo, the CPU fan spins up and zip from the monitor.

I then plugged in a Radeon HD 7470 that I had lying around that I know is in good working order, the result is still the same.

I am out of ideas, as mentioned there is not alot to the build but if anyone can see something that I may be going wrong please shout, otherwise I will RMA the mobo and see if a replacement fairs any better.

Cheers

Solution
your problem is your CPU is a raven ridge CPU which is one of the first ryzen CPU's with a graphics core so the BIOS will need to be updated on the motherboard to get it to work

Right, so how do I go about updating my mobo?

out of all options the best optionwould be to contact AMD for a Boot kit. they will loan you a compatible CPU that will get your motherbord to boot to perform the BIOS update. other options would be to contact gigabyte but you would need to send you mobo back to them to get the motherboard BIOS updated. you can find more details about the bootkit here:

Ok, this does make sense, I will get in contact with AMD and see if they can send out a boot kit to me. I will also give the reseller a heads up that they should really give people who are buying this combo a heads up as I would be very surprised that I am the only person with this problem.

Much appreciated to all contributors so far

You might be right, 150-250W is a bit low but by my calculations it should be ok albeit only just... I am pursuing the possibility that the issue might be a BIOS version incompatibility however if this does not work I will focus my efforts on giving the system more juice

good idea although these new CPU's just came out 1-2 weeks ago and there are no newer chipsets that released with them like what usually happens when Intel releases a new CPU series. it going to be hard to find a motherboard that will have the BIOS version to work with these out of the box for at least a few months

So I contacted both AMD and the re seller about this. AMD's response took AGES and the re seller was happy to replace the motherboard... but unless it had the latest BIOS installed out of the box I'm not sure what this would've achieved.

I decided to head to my local indie PC shop who, for a small fee were happy to use one of their Ryzen CPU's and flash the BIOS. This was done and all systems work great now.

Job done!
