GA-ep45-UD3p and Q9400 Not working

My system is

GA-EP45-UD3P
E7200
ddr2 800 gskill
500 hd
gtx 260
corsair 650 watt


I purchased a brand new Q9400 cpu from new egg.. I installed it yesterday with no luck.. The computer spins up but the cpu fan doesnt. The computer kicks off.. then kicks on....then off.. I dont have a speaker on my case.

So I had new egg RMA it for me..So today I got another one..Same issue.. I have tried different stock fans but nothing.. I installed the newest bios..nothing.. I have tried one stick of ram..nothing..

I have since reinstalled the e7200 and it runs great..

I am out of ideas boys.. thanks for the help..

Does your BIOS support it?

Also check your motherboard revision.

When you install the new CPU, did you reset the CMOS and then load optimised settings, and then finally change to settings you want.

Have this same setup q9400 same mobo 8 gigs 1066 ram same gtx260 overclocked cpu to 3.8 so I can vouch for it working hmmm have you rma'd the mobo ?

It will not run properly (if at all) if he has the old BIOS. As you can clearly see the Q9400 is supported in a later BIOS than the original.
