Hi, I'm having an issue regarding my setup. My CPU is AMD A10 7860K with a Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-S1 Rev. 1.1. My Bios is updated to FC - 12/24/2015 (SMBIOS Version: 2.7).

I upgraded from an AMD A4 7600 to A10 7860K (GODAVARI). the issue was even with a GPU (RX 460) games still appeared to be lagging. After that my friend concluded and decided to update the BIOS by updating it to FC. Though it did appear to be a bit optimized it still lags even after upgrading my GPU to GTX 970, it still lags on games especially on dense areas or town on most games. i tried playing AC Origins and my friend said he could play it stable on his A10 7850K (KAVERI) with a GTX 1050ti.

It bugs me what where the problem is coming from. I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me out on this implausible matter. Thank you.

The thing about FM2 is you need to consider Overclocking, your performance i also greatly effected by your RAM speed which also hinders your Overclock. There is not reason what you have shouldn't stay above 30fps with the rights settings in ACO, I was able to do so with a Athlon 860K @4.5ghz and a RX 460 which I sold around December.

CPU+ MB+ RAM as a Combo maybe $160-$190 use Reddit Hardware swap/Paypal to avoid Ebay seller fees.

A10 7860K $90+ used
MB new was $50 so used $25
RAM 8 GB $40-$50

Selling all of this would pretty much pay for the upgrade on a G4560.
.............

Intel G4560
LGA 1151 - budget MOBO
4x8GB - cheapest RAM available
GTX 970 - current GPU

Still games very well but that 4560 will need to be replaced in 1-2...
This upgrade was not worth the money, since games require strong single core performance, which is something old AMD cpus just do not have. I suggest you save up your money and get an i3-8100. The difference in performance will be incredible

A10 7850K + GTX 1050 TI

Assassin's Creed: Origins @ 1080p
Medium settings
Dynamic Resolution Off
Field of View turned down "80-90"
Clouds off
Depth of Field off.

That should stay above 30 fps, going High and you would see dips around 17fps from what I remember. Going with a better GPU "That 970 GTX" should help a little but it's pretty stressful on the CPU as is. APU's on Fm2+ are a waste of money with a addin GPU, the Athlons 860k/870k/880k are the same thing minus the iGPU and cheaper. You also need the fastest RAM you can afford to find on FM2+ and current RYZEN setups.

Upgrading past FM2+ would get you much better FPS at a price though.

The cheapest options
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Pentium G4560 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($62.68 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock - B250M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($91.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $194.66

Blows anything on FM2+ away but has it's limits and will struggle above High settings in most current Tiitles. Dead socket with no upgrades past a i7 7700K overall still worth the money. You will notice tearing and lag @ Ultra in a few titles due to the lack of cores.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($99.00 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($56.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $255.97

Overall better than the G4560 "Current" motherboard so new chips will be supported until 2020. You will need to contact "AMD" to get a Boot kit "Cheap CPU" that you use to Flash the Motherboard for support and then ship it back. Mixed with that 970 GTX it should be quite potent.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel - Core i3-8100 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor ($109.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI - Z370 SLI PLUS ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($100.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Team - Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($92.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $303.96

Runs about the same in FPS with the 2200g but gives you options to upgrade on the intel path. Unfortunate that this version of the socket will die next year and upgrades can get pricey. i5 8400 and the later 8500 and 8600 will afford the best value for you money for gaming since they will be around $174 to $215 and have clock speeds that boos up past 4ghz. You will also be seeing a new Pentiums, i3 with a turbo boost and budget motherboards soon.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I'll think about the upgrade.

Hi Delaro. Thanks for the informative answer. Should I assume that my system has no bugs or problems concerning hardware or software? Is it just plain incapable of going with today's requirements? It bothers me that my friends rig which has A10 7850K + GTX 1050 TI, which isn't so far from my setup can actually run stable 40-60 fps even in dense areas. In truth i wouldn't be complaining on my current setup if not for its unnatural behavior. I mean, this setup should be to handle such games at least on a medium setting. But as i said on AC Origins is just unplayable. In any case, is there anything you can advice in terms of maybe optimizing my rig on gaming?

After considering your comment I think i'll be upgrading soon. In any case i'll be selling my CPU+MOBO+RAM(Team Elite 4x2gb), how much do you think should i tag its price? Since i'm in a budget, which of the two setup options you provided do you think will be better for a budget build for the next 3 years? I heard Ryzen's board (AM4) should be okay for the next 5 years. So i'm thinking on going for that. But i was also thinking of a lesser priced CPU like Intel's G4560 that wouldn't bottleneck my current GPU (GTX 970) and lets it run to its maximum potential. I thought it would be a nice starting CPU for an LGA 1151 but thinking forward, maybe its not so future-proof anymore. So i'm thinking of the best budget option but also future-proof setup.

setups i'm thinking of:

Intel G4560
LGA 1151 - budget MOBO
4x8GB - cheapest RAM available
GTX 970 - current GPU
-------------------------------------------------------
Ryzen 3 1200
AM4 - best buck MOBO
4x8GB - cheapest RAM available
GTX 970 - current GPU

I don't plan to upgrade my GPU since it still is a good card on this generation.

Still games very well but that 4560 will need to be replaced in 1-2 years or sooner depending on the settings you want, this is the cheapest option now. It will be less of a bottleneck on a 970 GTX than anything on FM2, Ultra settings are the only struggles it runs medium to high very well.
.............

Ryzen 3 1200
AM4 - best buck MOBO
2x4 8GB - cheapest RAM available "Don't skimp here pay the extra $10 and get 3000-3200mhz it's a nice boost over 2400mhz amd wont hinder Overclocks as much.
GTX 970 - current GPU

Overall a better options for the long run, If your not going for the $99 2200G "think a cheaper 1400 overclocked" because of the Bios update then look at the 1300X when it drops down to $99 which is about every other week. Newegg normally has it and they usually toss it on Ebay as well.

Here is a G4560 + 970 GTX in AOC using high to Very High 1080p settings notice it stays above 36fps while recording

Here is a comparison between G4560 and Ryzen 1200 in the same game using a 1050ti notice they are pretty close to the same.

Ether way you go High settings with a G4560 or Ryzen "Stock" will give you above 34fps
