GA-G33-DS3R (GA-P35C-DS3R) SATA RAID 5 (SOLVED)

Can anyone tell me if this will work on the above motherboard?


5 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB S300 in RAID 5

OS to be used: Ubuntu 7.04 (32 bit)


Reason I ask is that I believe the SATA controller has a hardware limit of 2Tb. Granted the formatted capacity of the 500Gb is approx. 460Gb so the effective capacity due to RAID 5 will be 1.84Tb, but total capacity for all 5 drives will be 2.3Tb!

Answer : Hi,

The Intel ICH9R chipset does not have RAID HDD size limitation, the RAID HDD size limitation is depending by OS.

32 bit OS maximum raid HDDs size is 2TB, if user wants more space, please try 64bit OS.
