Hello all,

I've decided to ressurect my old rig with an ssd and ram. So I bought an 8gb Fury Hyper X DDR3 1600 mhz. On the Gigabyte website it says that the board supports 1600 mhz but I can't see it on bios settings(max is 1333 mhz) and I've updated to latest bios version which is F3.

I'm not sure if it really supports 1600 or if there's any other problem. I tried using Gigabytes own utilities to tweak some settings but these apps are so terrbly written I had to uninstall them. I can't return the rams, is there a way to use it by tweaking the bios settings or oc or something else maybe? I'm tech savy and on low budget so would welcome any help. Thanks in advance.

The kingston Fury Hyper will not support your H55 chipset MB anymore, they only support intel 6 series chipset MB at least, you can open the "datasheet" in their website, and you will see it. https://www.kingston.com/us/hyperx/memory/fury

By the way, you have to buy other brand like g. skill, corsair, or crucial brand, because all the newer Kingston RAM don't support the old intel MB. And you are better to use the memory finder to find the compatible RAM for your H55 MB.
