I received this new motherboard a couple of weeks ago. Built the system described in my profile and could not get it to POST - the CPU Fan refused to spin up, which I am taking as a sign that the CPU was not receiving power. After troubleshooting the system with Gigabyte Tech Service, they suggested that the board was DOA and recommended a RMA from the supplier, which I did. A new copy of the MB is inbound - but while I was waiting I wanted to know what sage advice those of you in this forum would offer as the lowest risk approach to making sure that this one is good and perhaps what, if anything, I overlooked in building it last time. This is my 5th computer build and I am an Electrical engineer, but something so basic as not getting power really stunned me.
I tried
24 pin ATX + 8 pin 12V connector
20 pin ATX + 4 pin 12V connector
24 pin ATX + no 12V connector
I tried 6 GB of memory sticks, two PSU, 2 video cards, and 2 processors. Hopefully the old board didn't fry my spankin new E6600 processor. That would really suck.
