Yo, waddup?

If anyone is using this combination successfully, please let me know! I am highly considering doing this in a Antec 900 case. I just want to make sure that the heatsink doesn't touch any of the stuff on the board.

Also, I have heard this heatsink works with the Antec 900 case, but i hear it is a close fit. If anyone is using the 900 case with the listed combination of mobo and heatsink, plz let me know!

In addition, if you are using the Xigmatek hdt-s1283, does it cover any of the dimm slots? It seems a lot of coolers are covering the first slot. I only plan on doing a 2x2 combination, so this might not be a problem though.

I am considering using OCZ Reaper ram, and i also wonder if the heat spreaders on this would contact the heatsink? or even a graphics card? I want to use the gigabyte mobo, but the layout is making planning this comp a nightmare!

Please let me know of ur experiances with this mobo and parts working with it (ie im looking for Ram and heatsink suggestions if you think im on the wrong path!!).

I have that mobo's big brother the DQ6 and the HDTS1283 and it installed no problem. Just barely clears the northbridge heatsink, but it manages to clear. I would definitely recommend the bracket for the HDTS1283 to bolt it on to the mobo instead of the pushpinshttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233019. Makes life much easier. On my board with the fan installed the cooler does not block any of the dimm slots and I have Corsair XMS dominator ram (really tall heat spreaders).

Thanks sciggy! :)

That information puts me more at ease due to the fact that i am so close to buying. Yes, i am definitely getting the bracket if i get this heatsink. I have read many reviews on newegg, and i have concluded that it is well worth buying! I am going to look at that boards layout alongside the one that i am planning on getting and see if i can draw some conclusions about the ram.

More input from members here is still appreciated!! :hello:

Well my friend, I just joined up so I could let you know that I feel your pain! I just got a GA-X48-DS4, Q6600, Xigmatek S1283 + the Xigmatek crossbow bolt on kit. Before I even hooked this up, I placed the xigmatek on the cpu socket to see if it will cover my RAM...and log and behold, it covers the first slot =( More important for you, I also bought the OCX Reaper memory (5-5-5-18 timings, 8200, with the heat pipe conduit). There's NO way that the xigmatek can be place properly on the CPU and not also cover the first RAM slot.

The good news? The second slot is fine; I popped in the RAM to verify that there is room, and there is. Since you indicated that you are only planning to do 2x2, you should be perfectly fine. In my case, however, I want to use all 4 slots! Not intending to hijack your thread, but if you happen to know whether the mobo will support 2x4GB (as opposed to 4x2GB), I would greatly appreciate feedback - and preferably a link!

If it helps, I am using the Cooler Master Cosmos RC-1000 case (it's beautiful) and there is plenty of room.

Good luck!

Doh! I should have waited to post _after_ I finally got my box together. It turns out that with a dual core, you will have the issue (assuming you mount the heatsink so that the copper pipes run along the cored, as shown by red lines in the top images at http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j298/ericeod/sidebysidecomp.jpg).

If you are running a quad core, you will flip the heatsink 90 degrees, and voila, the heatsink does not cover any RAM slots at all. Either way, since you aren't using more than two slots, you'll be ok, but thought you might like to know in case you are using a quad core (both cases I'm assuming Intel -- no idea how the cores are set on AMD's chips).
