[SOLVED] GA- X58A-UD3R: Can it boot from NVMe SSD using PCIe 2.0 slot?

I have an old PC with Windows 10 on it. GIGABYTE motherboard GA-X58A-UD3R. It boots ok, runs ok.

I installed the complete Ubuntu 20.04 LTS OS (including the booting partition) on the NVMe SSD, ADATA SX8200 Pro 512 GB, using the adapter in the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot.

I changed the booting priority in BIOS so the booting from the add-in card is the first option. The BIOS was flashed to the latest version before the installation.

I want to use dual booting for switching between Ubuntu and Windows.
Windows 10 on one physical disc (SSD SATA III) and Ubuntu 20.04 on the other (NVMe SSD) in the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot. Or possibly having both operating systems on the NVMe SSD.

But the PC can't boot into Ubuntu using the NVMe SSD in the PCIe 2.0 slot. After I start the PC there is no screen option to choose Ubuntu. The PC always boots directly into Windows 10.

I have searched for the solution on the internet, but couldn’t find any.
Can it be done or not?

An X58 board?
Highly unlikely. They came out years before NVMe was a thing. It does not know how to speak to that drive, and boot from it.
