Hello! I've been planning on getting a new pc and I'm not sure if I need a wireless adapter for it - I'm going for a Gigabyte Z97-D3H motherboard, and I get that it has a LAN chipset. My issue is, my computer hosts my place's wifi network; do I need to get a wireless adapter so I can get internet on my computer too?

I think that just with the ethernet port I can set up my modem and get internet on my coputer - if my pc wasn't the host, then I'd need an adapter right? The modem I have is a NuCom R5000unv2, which is the kind that doubles as a router. Looking back at this question it does seem a bit silly to ask but I'd really rather make sure.

I'm sorry if this question was best suited in another category, I just figured it had more to do with the motherboard than with networking itself. Thanks for the help!

You only need either a cabled or a wireless connection to the router, whatever router you use. You say that your PC hosts the connection, I guess you just mean the router resides inside your PC rather than being a stand alone box, I think this is a bad idea but you might have a good reason to do it
