Hello everyone, first time posting here.

So, I have mobo mentioned in title waiting few other parts to arrive so I could put my rig back together. I am planning to buy few new fans, since their colours would fit nicely in the theme. But there is my problem: They are all 3-pin fans.

What I now need to know is, can I control fans with voltage controlling or should I just get pwm fans or plug them in to fan controller if I stick with them?

Thanks!

Solution
To quote the GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 Manual: "The second CPU fan can be regulated even via 3-pin connection. The system fan connectors can only reduce or maintain the speed of 3-pin fans. For 4-pin fans, you can choose one of the two predefined fan regulation modes (Normal or Silent), enable full speed or set everything up manually."

You can either plug them in to the Fan Controller and manage your fan speeds via the BIOS or you can download SpeedFan and manage your fans via software.

The fans will run at their default speeds. You can reduce those speeds if you wish.
