I currently have a gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H with the following drive configuration:
1x ssd(OS)
1x optical drive
3x hdd(raid 5 for storage)
I am looking to build a new ish intel system with an i7-4790k cpu and have narrowed my board choices to the gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT or the ASRock Z97 Extreme9 due to the features. I would like to transfer my existing raid 5 to the new system (dont have enough backup space) and add an additional ssd to run my os in a raid 0 configuration:
2x ssd (os raid 0)
1x optical
3x hdd(raid 5 for storage)
1.Do I need to stick with gigabyte in order to transfer my existing raid successfully?
2.Is it possible to successfully run 2 different raids and an optical on 1 board?
3.The gigabyte has 2 raid controllers, does this matter?
4.Instead of the 0 would i be better off with a single m.2 or sata express drive?
