Major improvements with 61.34 in Pain killer
 
Yeah, I agree with splenda. Where is the huge improvements that you've raved about for the last 3 weeks? i barely saw a 2% increase. None the less 30%!

woops the 30% gains. Pain Killer alone had about a 25% increase.

From 60.78 to 61.11 and 61.34 there was around a 25% increase in far cry

61.11 to 61.34 there was increases of 25% with Tomb Raider and Pain Killer.

Its gettting there.

The ultra didn't get as much gains as the gt.

Where the gt was falling behind the pro in almost all tests about 5% behind now its about 5% ahead of the pro with the new drivers.

Hexus got around a 15% incease allround from drivers .78-61.34

Unreal 2003 went up 20% or so.

The increases are there, dx9c is the final performance bumpper for the gf 6 line

I'm noticing in a lot of the tests that as resolution increases the 6800U plummets close to the performance of the X800 Pro, which can be had for less than half of what the water-cooled Gainward costs.

I choose 1024x768 on my 9800 Pro, but if I was to spend 600 pounds, or $1100, I'd expect to be playing at higher resolutions, where the the 6800U seems to be only slightly faster than the X800. The Serious Sam test is moot because of the ATi driver issues, and the Call of Duty test didn't show the superior OpenGL performance I was hoping to see, only slightly better than the X800... I could only see a couple of tests where there was a clear advantage with the nVidia card, although I do agree that the new driver is showing BIG improvements in some games.

Once again price-to-performance is the king, and right now the X800 Pro is the best value for enthusiast-level cards.
 
true gainwood's card is way overpriced! Well there is only one way for the new drivers to go. 61.51 which hopefully is the next release is supposed to be even faster, which I haven't tested yet. Buy a guy on beyond 3d is testing them out with some nice bug fixes and speed imporvements.

There are two version of 61.34 the one that was released to the public still doesn't support for sm 3.0. I guessing this not sure though.

i would say more impressive than ATI.. but if you consider that the x800 is keeping up 90% of the time (and surpassing sometimes as well) and also consider that its an old architecture, then its not that impressive anymore

thats true they did what noone expected them to. nV should give em props for that, that would actaully make them look a bit better.

Alson nV modified thier core structures to something more similiar to that of ATi, which its all ways been the other way around. Just something thats kinda interesting.

Why couldn't they throw X800XTpe in there for a more even comparison? This is NV's top card this round, and an extreme edition at that. Why is it compared to Ati's low end X800?

because the pe is an over clocked xt, why not have the ultra extreme there as well? Nvidia won't send out ultra extremes. These are ultra stock speeds from Gainwood. Most nV partners are clocking thier boards higher to begin with.

Either way, the xt and xt pe there wasn't much difference from either of those cards, and if I remember right they were getting around 50 fps with Far Cry at 1600x1200 with x4aa x8af with a top end cpu?

Most of the cards from nV's partners that I have seen or heard about are being clocked from 425-450.
 
Yeah, but NV yields on ultra extreme's are just not there. They can't ship them because they just can't yet make them. It doesn't look like they really need the extreme to keep up wth ATI though. But still, this Gainward should be compared to ATI's top card, which is X800XTpe? WHy say it could be the fastest video card on earth and not compare it to it's only competition, the XTpe. Which as you know is available to buy and isn't some overclocked limited edition. Compusa.com had them for $450 shipping in in a week.

The XTpe scored about 36% higher than the Pro at those 1600x1200 4X/8X settings. It's hard to compare one review sites number to anothers. Are they on the same platform, same settings, same timedemo, etc.? All I'm saying is the XTpe was the card to compare to IMO.

Ok the cpu ram and graphics cards are all about the same, as the review for the Gainwood. Take alook at the nV drivers.

That review from Firing squad uses 61.11 and 56.72.

The Gainwood one used 61.34 :).

Double checked the numbers this time to make sure I don't do the same mistake as last hehe
 
I wasn't pointing to the NV scores. Just showing the XTpe compared to the X800pro. The X800Pro scored 10fps higher in your review than in the firing squad review. So we can't directly compare #'s between the two reviews. Not that it would be the case, but take the 1600x1200 farcry scores for the X800pro in your review, and add 36% for the XTpe. If this is close to the real scores, then the XTpe would have blown the Gainward away. But is it? We don't know since they left the XTpe out. It sure could be the case though, unless that Asus is an extra quick Pro. I guess we have to just wait for more complete reviews of the actual retail cards to know. Definately some improvements for the ultra with those drivers. I'm waiting to see your magic drivers once released to the public, with DX9.0c, retail cards, and non-beta Cat 4.7's, tested on the complete new lineup of cards from NV and ATI. Is that asking too much? :lol: If not, I then I want to see it now.

the gt is for sale btw, friend just bought one from there. Although thier site says waiting, it is avaiable.

Thats odd I thought they dropped the price on all the ATI cards, or where those just prerelease sales?

I think the 6800 ultra is a waste of money. The gt is nice card for 400 bucks and it gives overclockers alot more pushing power. I heard the ram on these cards can be clocked to well about 1300mhz air coolled! Should be the same with the ATi x800's as well.

Wow, 25+25+25+15+20=110, a 110% increase! That's over twice as fast! w00t!

Actually BABEL is adding Russian to English (have already added it, but it's limited), it just doesn't work well right now, it's very hit or miss, right now needs mainly text only or elese the url translations crash. Been that way for a few weeks, they added it like a month ago.

Anywhoo, ixbt.com is just Digit-Life's parent site. Digit-Life has the same reviews, just a few days later once they are translated.

As for the GT beating the Pro, well duh! Beating the XT would be impressive, beating the Pro is to be expected.
