I bought my pc in the last year and since then i have a big problem with my gpu. when i play games, the temperature go up to 80 degrees and i've set its fans to run on 80% on this temperature. my case is small (480mm x 200mm x 460mm) and it has 3 fans. according to this review my video card must not go over 60 degrees when i'm gaming: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/galax_geforce_gtx_970_exoc_review,8.html

my case (it's very small):

if i set the gpu fans to 80% on any temperature, the temperature doesn't increase any more for example if i set the fans to 80% on 60 degrees, the temperature stays 60 C in heavy games.
if i set fan speed to auto the temperature goes up to 90 degrees !
does setting fan speed that high (80%) affect fans lifespan? if the fans stop working is there any way to change them? if i get a biger case, does gpu temperature decrease?

As an owner of the galax card myself & having used numerous other 970s in builds I can state 100% that the exoc cooler is as good or better than both the MSI gaming & Asus strictly models.

Under heavy load 80c is acceptable , 90c isn't though.

The stock profiles are geared more towards silence than cooling & I myself set a custom fan profile with 70% at 70c , never ever saw the card go above 72c even under furmark tests after that.

This in a Silverstone gd06 which is smaller than your case albeit it with 3x120mm intakes & 2x80mm exhausts.

Looking at your system I'd say the issue is entirely case cooling related, what actual case model is it ??

What case fan configuration do you have in there??

There's nothing inherently wrong with running the gpu fans at 80% , the second fan doesn't even kick in till 60c anyway,& I know the galax is a quiet card even at 100% fan speed so noise is a non issue.

If you're running a 60htz screen then your first step should be enabling adaptive vsync in Nvidia settings & using vsync options in game (or in the 3d control manager if the game doesn't have a vsync option)

The majority of the time this will keep gpu usage around 70% & drop 10-15c off gaming temps.

setting fan speed to 70% on 70 degrees didn't make a diffrence for me and setting vsync to adaptive didn't make a diffrence too. i opened case door and the gpu temperature decreased by about 5 degrees so is case causing the problem?
so if i set the gpu profile to 80% fan speed on 70 degrees does it affect gpu fans lifespan? (it doesn't have noise on 80% speed)
my case model is this:http://www.green-case.com/products/case/midi/case.php?model=X_Eagle

straight away from your case link Im going to assume youre based in the mniddle/far east?
That probably means ambient (room) temps of around 30c?

If this is the case then your gpu load temps are going to be a good 10c or more in excess of mine (im uk & room temps are normally 19-22c max here)

80% fan speeds shouldnt really restrict the lifetime of the fans mate really imo,no more than 60-70% fan speeds anyway.Like you I prefer gpu temps to be as low as possible under load,it doesnt bother some people but I personally think its likely to prolong the life of the card on the whole.

Liek I said before ,making sure adaptive vsyn is enabled in the geforce settings & then always setting vsync ingame to restrict the max fps to 60 is always the best way.

You can actually lower temps & usage further by setting your display to 50htz rather than 60htz.
this drops another 20% off gpu usage when vsync is enabled.
You will max fps at 50 rather than 60 fps - to me personally this is unnoticeable & should absolutely drop 10c or so from your gaming temps.
