I have the following GPU from GALAX.

http://www.galax.net/GLOBAL/980ti_v.html

The design it seems is pretty similar to the reference one.

So coming to the issue the temps reach 88 C at heavy load and fluctuate between 85-87 C during normal gaming. The Card itself is running fine and has no issues.

Also Ocieng the card to 1400 max boost just makes a difference of one degree.

So what do you thing I should do in this situation ?

Temperature in the room is pretty high. With regards to airflow ,I was running it in open bench and it did make a difference of 1 degree.

Custom file profile is already working and has been set to go to 100% at 90 C.

I know the temp is on the high side but people say that you should not worry unless you are hitting 90 C .I have seen GTX 980Ti cards reaching 84 C when over clocked presumably under open bench.By this metric my temp does not seems to be too high.

Also the idle temp is around 36 C.

If the room temperature is high (and I mean really high not just 30C or something) that may be your issue. Remember, higher ambient temperatures means the card dissipates less heat, and combined with that card's crappy cooler, well, this is the result. If you really want the card to run cooler you should either keep it in a cooler room or look into watercooling I'm afraid.

I don't want to keep the card cool as such,I just wan't to know whether these temps are ok to operate that card at as they are within specifications(92 C max).

I can't really say something concrete about the room temp as I don't have proper equipments for that but it is pretty high,as far as I can tell. The idle temps are surprisingly low for the GPU though.

Also, what do you think abut the cooler itself ,is it worse than the reference?.I had to go with this one as any decent custom cooled card would have cost me 150$ plus where I live.(different pricing than US /UK).

Thanks for the response but do we have some basis/experience for the card not functioning properly under such temps cause it is working within Nvidia specifications(92 C max).
Also you can't really compare custom coolers with reference/semi reference blow out cooler.

About room temps; the weather forecast says the temp in my area is 33 C so you can make a guesstimate of the room temperature.

The cooler looks (keyword "looks") slightly better than reference but still not good. As long as you are within specifications your card should be fine, but temps this high could lower its lifespan somewhat. I'd be more worried about thermal throttling than damage to the card really, since even much lower end nVidia cards will shut down if they exceed safe temps too much.. I'd suggest setting the fan to go 100% at 85C.

What a coincidence; I just set the fan to go 100% at 84 C since the throttling occurs around this temp ,as far as I know.
About lifespan, presumably you mean long term.I just wan't this card to work normally for a 1-1.5 years after which I will upgrade any ways.

81'C on 33'C room temp is still ok if it is really about the max your GPU can go but if possible try to get it lower.
I would simply suggest that you set the fan to run on 100% far earlier, let say @60'-70'C.
Trust me, you do not need to get extra cooler or something, just play around with the fan profile and everything should be ok.
