Galaxy GTX 660ti 3gb vs HD 7950 3gb OC edition V2

Hello, i was wondering which card i should get for my build. The Galaxy GTX 660ti 3gb or the HD 7950 3gb OC edition V2

I will be playing games like bf3, i like antialiasing and physx so im not sure which way to go, also how is the cooling and everything on this card? Does the 660s 192 bit memory interface make a difference in gaming and video rendering vs the 7950s 384?

so 660ti 3gb 192bit vs 7950 3gb 384bit oc edition v2 for games such as bf3, need for speed most wanted, mw3, black ops 2, assassins creed 3, borderlands 2 and battlefield bad company 3 with also future proofing for as long as possible

I have that exact HD7950 and I love it.

As for the battle between HD7950 and GTX660ti, there are arguments for and againts each. I greatly prefer the HD7950 fo its OCing potential, if you search the forum you can find MANY threads discussing the two.

Performance of the two should be about similar. With some games in the favor of the GTX 660 TI and with som in Radeon 7950.

Overclocking is better on the Radeon 7950, but your warranty will void if you do so in most cases. GTX 660 TI got boost, which Means that the GPU overclocks itself without you in need of doing anything.

Nvidia offers some cool Technologies that AMD doesn't. These Technologies improve Visuals and makes the gameplay smoother. You can check them out below.

The GTX 660 TI is the most appealing GPU in my book of the two.

Adaptive vsync sucks and is busted as a 60hz monitor does not display more than 60fps anyway. Old normal Vsync was never busted and so did not need fixing. nvidia is up to there old dirty sales marketing tricks with Adaptive vsync.

Sounds like a matter of opinion.
TXAA removes most Aliasing at the cost of decreasing image detail and increasing image blurring. The video you posted clearly shows this.

go for a 660ti. I can personally vouch for the card, as I have one. I returned a 7950 due to coil whine and didn't see a difference in FPS, and the coil whine was really bothersome.

A superclocked or OC 660ti is basically a vanilla 670, and has a pretty decent factory overclock. You won't notice a difference in either the 7950 or 660ti, so go for the better looking card and the one which won't have coil whine. The 7950/7970 cards are known to have coil whine, but AMD users just accept it apparently. I couldn't stand it.

It's a great GPU but it's not as close of being a GTX 670 as you might think.

GTX 670 has 32 ROPS where GTX 660 ti got 24

GTX 670 got 256-bit bus Width where GTX 660 ti got 192-bit bus Width.

I did and it confirmed the fact that FXAA and TXAA removes image detail and clarity to reduce jaggies.

Either way, I would give a recommendation for the 660ti over 7950 though. I didn't want to chance returning my 7950 for another one, due to the fact I would probably still have coil whine. Nvidia has been known to suppress coil whine much better, which is a big factor for me. If two competing cards do basically the same thing, I'll take the one which is quieter, and won't sound like telephone wires inside my case

It's a great GPU but it's not as close of being a GTX 670 as you might think.

GTX 670 has 32 ROPS where GTX 660 ti got 24

GTX 670 got 256-bit bus Width where GTX 660 ti got 192-bit bus Width.

It used to be until nvidia crippled all there new GPUs with that greenlight fiasco. Msi 660ti PE used to OC to same speed as an OCed GTX 680.

Just because one 7950 might have had coil whine does not mean they all do LOL.

Coil whine is manufacturer specific, SAPPHIRE has NEVER had coil whine.

AND a vanilla GTX670??? With a 192 bit memory bus? SUUUURE... LOL Its IMPOSSIBLE. It would never match a vanilla GTX670 in AA or multiple screen setup.

The cards are VERY similar.

If you OC, hands down the HD7950, if not, then its a toss up...

Just as many nvidia cards exhibit coil whine as do AMD. It's largely an isolated issue.

No offense, but with cards of this caliber, OC is just for epeen. OP, just get whichever you feel comfortable with, and you'll have a great card which will slaughter almost everything.

Also, if you go the 660ti route, I recommend the card I have. It's superclocked, 3gb, and has a backplate. Plus EVGA includes a few goodies. Nice case badge, good overclocking program (precision x) and has a better overall fit and finish.

Tom, I've had many Nvidia cards without coil whine. Maybe its my first experience with an 7950 which turned me off due to coil whine, and the fact many others seemed to be experiencing it too which made me have a bias.

Tom, I've had many Nvidia cards without coil whine. Maybe its my first experience with an 7950 which turned me off due to coil whine, and the fact many others seemed to be experiencing it too which made me have a bias.

LOL I disagree that OC is for "epeen", there are many games that can challenge this class of card at HD res. For one, farcry 3 when it first released. Probably Crysis 3 when it releases , and soon there will be many more, THAT is when OC is not "epeen".

Precision X is pointless since you can use MSI afterburner ON ANY card and its the best OV program there is.

Like I said, manufacturer SPECIFIC! Windforce and reference design are THE ONLY ones I have seen with this issue.

D: FLAMEWAR ON MY THREAD lol. I think i will go with the galaxy gtx 660ti 3gb. I dont really need 256 bit like the 670 because i am only running one 1920x1080 monitor and wont be using any fancy aa injectors. Thanks for your feedback guys! I love adaptive VSYNC!
