1. Buy 2 year old technology for next to nothing.
2. Market it as a pro product with a pro price.
3. Corporations buy it because IT managers are retarded.
4. Profit!

[citation][nom]lifelesspoet[/nom]This is great for all of those people who missed the chance at a voodoo5 card from 3dfx.[/citation]

Already got a voodoo 5500 and a rare Nvidia 7900gtx duo (first gen GX2) so one day this card may be in my collection.

[citation][nom]deadlockedworld[/nom]What kind of performance would this have? Would it compete with a 5830?[/citation]
It would probably perform the same as the 9800 GX2. Since Nvidia hasn't been pumping out anything new, they have to make their money somehow.

This might actually be a good thing for gamers if they manage to keep it under $200.

Otherwise, it's probably just a marketing gimmick to attract attention to galaxy.

Somehow I was thinking this would have been an AGP solution. I was actually quite surprised at how AMD and Nvidia managed to take PCIe Solutions and shoehorn them into AGP.

Kevin it doesn't take to much working out why Galaxy are producing this card. Have a look on Newegg and see how many GTX285's you can buy these days, Nvidia are simply not producing new high end chips as there to costly to produce, if they were making money on it they wouldn't have ceased production even if Fermi is just around the corner.

This then leaves Nvidia's board partners with a problem, they need stock to sell to generate cash to pay the wages so companies like Galaxy have a look at what's available and make do with what they have. If Galaxy needs to produce a card like this then you known there's a good reason for it - it's not as if Galaxy have a side line in motherboards like other board partners.

What old graphics? AFAIK the 8800/9800s etc are more or less the same in terms of performance.

[citation][nom]one-shot[/nom]This seems pretty cool. How's $150 sound?[/citation]
That would be pretty decent. Imo, I think Galaxy is trying to go after the $100-150 segment here.

@ Kevin Parrish: Any chance of a review?

Ugh why not just get a 9800gx2? Is this just two 9800gts in SLI or 9800gtx+'s in SLI? Because if its the GTX+ in SLI, then it is still a pretty good config, too bad there are no SLI bridges though. I just recently replaced my 9800gtx+ with a 5850 so I would know that if this card is based on to g92 gtx+ chips then it is still good for almost all games and apps...

if that's true it could be good. Since we know the 4870 got raped by the gtx 280, and i think 9800gx2 was a little...weaker?.
so could 5750 get assraped, cuz of bad performance....

How do you compare those cards? The gtx 280 was quite a bit steeper.

I'm trying to quantify this and have a question. Is assraped worst than raped?

According to the hierarchy chart in toms most recent "best gfx card for the money" this will be on the same tier as the GTX 280, GTX 285, HD 4850 X2 and HD 5850.

This is based on the assumption that its a modified 9800gx2 with twice as much ram and a shrunk core size (65nm down to 55nm) and that should be sufficient to make the next tier.
