Galaxy s9+ keeps deleting downloaded pics

Anyone have any idea why downloaded pictures keep disappearing from my gallery? I downloaded a bunch of pictures (about 80) from different emails and organized them into different folders. After about a day the majority of the pics and folders are gone. This only affects downloaded pictures and not the ones I took with the phone, and this is the internal storage, not an ad card

The photos are probably still in your Camera device folder, but not displaying in the main Photos area.

The pictures are gone when I look in my file manager as well, even the downloads folder of file manager. I attached the phone to the computer and can find them anywhere
