Hello, i have narrowed down my graphics card options to 2 cards, the galaxy gtx 660 ti gc 3gb http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21396, or the gigabyte gtx 660 ti 3gb OC http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21727

what are the main differences and will i get better performance overclocing with the 3 fans on the gigabyte card? Whats the best value for money? Whats overall a better card for games like battlefield 3, warz, arma II, arma III, dayz standalone, skyrim, borderlands 2, etc... Is it worth the extra $30?

There will be a slight better performance increase with the OC one, as far as cooling the Gigabyte would be better in this case. There pretty much going to perform about the same in those games, well at least for games that are out, no one knows spec for arma 3 or dayz standalone as they havent even been officially confirmed. I know dayz standalone is in the works, but with arma 3 rumoring to not being developed anymore its going to be awhile tell we ear anything about it.

but will i need 3gb for future proofing? I hear newer games are using 2+ gb of vram so should i stick with the 3gb ones or go for the asus one? Also, how much better is the cooling on the gigabyte one? Enough to spend an extra $30 on? Im on a budget trying to spend as least as i can. The ASUS is the best you can get, it has the best cooling and overall OC ability.

No most games are using around 1.5 to 1.8 gigabytes of ram and that's specifically with bf3. And then with Skyrim it appears according to those I've talked to that the game will use all the ram you have whether its 2, 3, 6 w.e. Bigmack was telling me a poster on the forums that he had a geforce card with 2 gigabytes of ram and it used up all of it with no lag or slow down and then on his 7000 series card same story.

On your build I would change a couple things. I would go with the ASUS 660Ti DCUII card. And I would change the PSU to a different one a higher quality unit. You don't need 1 kilowatt of power. And you probably don't need a 750 watt however you can SLi at a later point if you choose.

You have a i7 and a large amount of ram in your build are you doing any rendering/editing?

Common sense and reason is the way to combat them as those are the two things they they cannot comprehend!

Yeah and I'm starting to get a bit cheesed off with a couple of forum members who constantly hijack Nvidia question threads but then kick up a fuss if AMD/ATi threads get the same treatment.

Yes i am doing video rendering and editing. I am also hoping to use this software called softxpand to create 2 virtual pcs out of one. Hence so much ram, strong processor, and i am getting 2 of these gpus, the 2 monitors, keyboards, mice etc... ( check it out on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMi2knHdPBg ) I think ill get the gigabyte 3gb since it has an extra cooling fan and is factory overclocked more, plus its futureproof with later games that may need more than 2gb of vram. Also, with the psu, is that one good enough? http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12940 I like a quiet pc, and 1000w is good for future parts.

I just don't are much for cooler master power supplies. What you will find is that power supplies are more so rated by there series rather then the amount of watts they take up. Here is a list of tiered power supplies. You are looking at to them a tier 3 power supply. I was recommending a tier 2 power supply within the hx series. Even the AX power supplies may be a good option as well I have a AX850 the fan only turns on when my power load goes beyond a certain percent.

And yea I thought as much I was just hoping that I wasn't going to have to tell you strictly for gaming you were going way overboard :p
