Game Add - Ons for PS3

I would like to know if you could download game add-ons or expansions onto a USB flash disk and then download them onto the PS3

As far as I am aware no you cant - the only downloadable content you can usb on a flash drive is the firmware updates. But then they are freely available when you use your PS3.
