I was playing Team Fortress 2 and it crashed to desktop. Never had this happen before. Event Viewer told me the following:

Faulting application name: hl2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x639426e4
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.19041.3324, time stamp: 0x7f9ebe8b
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x000e6d83
Faulting process id: 0x854
Faulting application start time: 0x01d9e2ec41b0affa
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\hl2.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

What does this mean?

The exception code 0xC0000374 indicates a heap corruption. Heaps are memory (RAM) allocations performed by apps and system functions. The faulting application here was the hl2.exe executable of the Team Fortress 2 game.

If bad RAM was the cause here I'd expect a lot more crashes and BSODs and for a variety of modules. If this is the only crash you've had then I would strongly suspect the game is at fault. Check the online forum for the game (if there is one) or contact the vendor and see whether this is a known issue.

It might just be a glitch, they happen sometimes, so if this is the only crash you've had I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you start top get repeated crashes or BSODs then do post back.

it's only happened this once. I've been playing Starfield for a couple hours with no issues so far, and the RAM is less than a month old, so if I do get more issues then I'll post back. system file check with command prompt didn't turn up any corrupted files either.
