I have this black-red dragon deck I'm working on for Casual Play - Dracolich Deck.
The plan is to avoid having to hard-cast the dragons, instead throwing the dragons
into my graveyard (Buried Alive) then using Patriarch Bidding, Necromancy or Living
Death to bring them out. Also playing with 3 Form of the Dragons for later in the
game.

The problem is that it takes too long to get going. I have a 4 x Will-of-the-wisps
to assist delay. And toying with adding 4 x Gnats to add further delay.

Question: What else can I do? If I add creature removal then I'm filling my
opponents graveyard. Is there a Red or Black card which makes it harder for him to
summon creatures? Anything other delay/stall ideas?

TIA,

Tim

---------------------
Buried Alive
{2}{B}
Sorcery
Search your library for up to three creature cards and put them into your
graveyard. Then shuffle your library.

Living Death
{3}{B}{B}
Sorcery
Each player removes all creature cards in his or her graveyard from the game,
then sacrifices all creatures he or she controls, then puts into play all cards
he or she removed this way.

Necromancy
{2}{B}
Enchantment
You may play Necromancy any time you could play an instant. If it was played any
time a sorcery couldn't have been played, sacrifice it at end of turn.
When Necromancy comes into play, if it's in play, it becomes an enchant
creature. Put target creature card from a graveyard into play under your control
enchanted by Necromancy.
When Necromancy leaves play, destroy enchanted creature. It can't be
regenerated.

Patriarch's Bidding
{3}{B}{B}
Sorcery
Each player chooses a creature type. Each player returns all creature cards of a
type chosen this way from his or her graveyard to play.

Form of the Dragon
{4}{R}{R}{R}
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, Form of the Dragon deals 5 damage to target
creature or player.
At the end of each turn, your life total becomes 5.
Creatures without flying can't attack you.

Fog of Gnats
{B}{B}
Creature -- Insect
1/1
Flying
{B}: Regenerate Fog of Gnats.

Will-o'-the-Wisp
{B}
Creature -- Will-o'-the-Wisp
0/1
Flying
{B}: Regenerate Will-o'-the-Wisp

9 x Dragons including Bladewing the Risen which has nice symmetry to the deck

Bladewing the Risen
{3}{B}{B}{R}{R}
Legendary Creature -- Dragon
4/4
Flying
When Bladewing the Risen comes into play, you may return target Dragon card from
your graveyard to play.
{B}{R}: All Dragons get +1/+1 until end of turn.

Creature removal doesn't *have* to send creatures to the graveyard.
Disintegrate, Ashes to Ashes, Faceless Butcher, Carbonize, Cannibalize...
Carrion Beetles and Coffin Purge, Cremate, Crypt Keeper, Decompose,
Ebony Charm, Tormod's Crypt (and on and on...) could all be amusing in
making sure your opponent has nothing good to resurrect, as well.

I was going to say there's some sort of enchantment Aether Ouchie that
damages creatures when they come into play, but that'd also fill your
opponent's graveyard.

You could run Scrabbling Claws and/or Withered Wretch to pull creature
out of there once you've burned 'em up.

Also, since you're clearly playing older cards, maybe dig up some good
ol' Paralyzes.

Finally, go with Consume Spirits or Drain Lifes or Wet Willie of the
Damned or some other drain/gain black life spell. It kills their
creatures and gives you further buffer against the baddies that get
through.

And, as long as you're doing that, maybe try a couple of Greeds to
speed your way through the deck (also allowing discard if your hand
gets too big). The gain life of those cards will help, as will Form
of the Dragon. Allowing you to Greed for a card (2 if you know they
aren't packing instant speed Shocks) at the end of your opponent's
turn.

Be forewarned, I played a Form of the Dragon, sat back and was
immediately hammered by a Lava Axe. I mean, who plays Lava Axe? Oh
well.

Yamabushi's Flame from the new Kamigawa block deals 3 damage, and then removes
a creature from the game if it would go to the graveyard that turn.

You could also add a few Dark Rituals to your deck to speed up your
mass reanimation. I had a Legend Bidding deck that could power
out some of the more abusive Legends on turn two or three, all thanks
to the speed of Dark Ritual...no need to delay when they're looking
at Akroma on turn two; just smash face! (grin)

Of course, now that Legends are no longer Legends, I just turned it
into a Spirit Bidding deck, and thanks to Iname, Death Aspect in the
new block, I can have *all* my spirits in play in short order! (grin)

There are a couple of different ways you can go about it. First, you
can try and slow the game down further with discard or LD. Discard
would complement a less all-in-one-shot mentality as you could steal
other players goodies too. Second, you can run reusable removal or
large/regenerating blockers to slow down the creature rush. Third, you
can use Sphere of Resistance to make all spells cost more or Tangle
Wire to tap down permanents.

The other option is to speed up your deck more. Use artifact mana to
develop your mana base faster. Use accelerants like Dark Ritual to
shorten the distance between the start of the game and when you can
cast your spells. Find ways to draw more cards. Look for cheap discard
outlets. Think about changing your focus from Living Death style decks
to straight reanimator.

If I were you, I would definitely move away from spells like Will O
Wisp and Fog of Gnats. Even if they stay around indefinitely neither
helps you win.
