game locks comp

I hope that someone can help me. I'm trying to play Real Deals Slots Vol 2 on my 500mhz pIII tabour 440bx 512 ram radeon 9000 pro vid sound blaster live value and it will lock up my cpu after lpaying for awhile. The intro graphics are jerky as well as sound. The mfg of game said it had to be my sound card because it doesn't support directx8.1 Any suggestions?

i might guess it's a video problem, either you vid. drivers need to be updated or just throw your card out. The radeon 9000 is inherently unstable. If you revise some of the vga charts at tom's, you'll notice that the 9000 couldn't complete benchmarking because it would always crash.

Thanks for the info. I just bought this board at best buy on sale. Reckon now I know why they were on sale. I'll try going to their site for new drivers first and see if that helps.

word on the street says the catalyst3 solved a lot of problems. Give those a try, gl.

New info on my game. I reinstalled my sound blaster live value, and no my comp doesn't lock up! And as a bonus, my comp respondes faster. However, when i first start up the game, there is a intro(as with all my games), and the graphics are terrible. Its like looking at a slide show. Once the game is loaded, the graphics are great, and there are no further problems. At least so far there isn't. Any idea on the start up graphics problem? Oh yea, it only happens with this game.
