hello. i have experienced some performance problems for quite a while. i think all my games run much slower then they should. i have 8 gb of ram,fx 8350 CPU and r9 390nitro GPU. and the games just lag.. for example i watched youtube videos from other people with same setup and the games the play run well on high setting like 60-70 fps but i get more like 40 average. i have latest gpu driver all the time.. what could be the problem ? the only bad part maybe is the hard drive.. it's a bit old.. but could it cause fps drops like that ? some games like Doom that i just got fly on ultra.. but games like gta 5,dirt rally, tomb rider and many others just perform bad. maybe there are some setting i need to change or something ? or maybe cpu drivers or something ? is there such thing ? 😀 im really desperate... please hep!!

If you have a high quality motherboard, overclock your FX-8350.
FX cores are slow and they need all the help you can give.
Some games like fast action shooters are graphics limited. Your R9-390 should be good there.
Others like sims, mmo, and strategy games tend to be largely single threaded and cpu limited. FX cores are not so good there.

Regardless, do yourself a favor and move windows to a ssd. Not so much for gaming, but for overall quickness of your pc.
For games, it will help when the game takes a checkpoint or loads a new level .

To get an idea of how the cpu may be impacting you, try a backhanded test.
Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 70%.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Conversely what a 30% improvement in core speed might do.

First and foremost, you should check your CPU (very important!) and GPU temperatures while gaming. Use software which can record temperatures over time and represent them on a graph, like Open HW Monitor. There are many others. Your CPU has a fairly low temperature threshold of just 62C, so make sure it does not exceed that temperature even while gaming.

If it does overheat, it automatically lowers the frequency to prevent overheating, and that hampers performance. You will likely need to clean the dust and/or reapply thermal paste and/or increase airflow in your case. Ultimately, you might need to buy a better CPU cooler.

i have M5A99FX Pro r2.0 asus motherboard and cooler is coolermaster hyper t4
don't know nothing about overclocking... never tinkered with that cause i allways get scared of burning it down or whatever.. don't know what to do 😀
and my windows is on ssd bought one only for windows and stuff about 7gb free space left

what and how should i overclock it ? or with this cooler it won't be possible?
