Game performance suddenly dropped

I have an i5 intel Chipset, an Nvidia 550TI, 8gb ram and windows 7 64bit. Everything was working fine until a couple weeks ago. Was running everything easily on Ultra or High. Skyrim, Witcher II, Farcry3, no problems. Now, I can barely run Torchlight. Ran diagnostics, scoured my computer for a virus, or a fault. Can't find a thing. Did a clean reinstall of windows, still having the same problem. What gives? Anyone have any ideas?

Check your core clock speed when gaming. You may be experiencing a driver bug that doesn't allow the core clocks to get up to full 3D mode.

So I ran WBEMTest and got 3801 (oxED9) for both. I'm stretching a little out of my normal area of expertise here, so I'm not sure if that is what you were expecting me to do or not.

Questions:
1) What specifically do you mean by "can barely run"?

2) Did you make any changes prior to this problem?

3) Is this possibly a laptop with NVidia Optimus technology?

If not, tell us:
1) motherboard model
2) CPU model

Run Afterburner or other video card monitoring/overclocking utility, play a game, and see what the graph says the core clocks were while gaming.

Ok. On it on the Afterburner. Will have info soon. It's a desktop. By 'barely run' I mean it lags out really badly. I was playing skyrim on Ultra, now it lags out. Trochlight II will have occasional bursts of extreme lag, where things will hang, then speed up. Same thing happening on Skyrim but constantly. Will have more information after I run Afterburner.

try windows system restore to a point where it worked properly.
