Game Quality Drop After Nvidia Update

For two years, I never updated my Nvidia GeForce driver on my gaming laptop. A few months ago, I updated the driver, and the quality of my games dropped, however, I decided to stick with it just in case it was that specific driver. I have been constantly updating my driver every time a new driver is released, but it never seems to improve. I remember playing Borderlands 2 and new graphic features were added when I ran the game through the GeForce application, but now I can barely run the game on low graphics settings. Just today, I tried to play Dark Souls, and fps is too low for me to even fathom playing, and I remember playing the game seamlessly. I'm not sure if anyone can help, but if they can, please give me something to work with. Thank you so much in advance!

My specs are:

Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4810MQ CPU @ 2.80 GHz, 2801 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M

16.0 GB of RAM

Current Driver is GeFoce GTX 376.33

I don't know of any other info I should give, I am very bad with computers :/

One thing that you might want to disable is shader chaching, it's been known to slow down games, is fairly new, and might have been turned on in your update. Go to the nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, global settings, and turn "shader cache" to off. It got me an extra 20-30fps in csgo, maybe it'll help a bit.

I turned the shader caching off but it only seemed to make the frame rate drop even further. Do you have any other possible tips? If not, it's okay, and thank you for your contribution!
