My normal desktop resolution is 1440x900 but when i play Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag and set the in game resolution to the exact same as my normal desktop resolutions there are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. My graphics driver is up to date as my monitor driver. However when i set the game resolution to let's say 1366x768 it fits the screen normally and fills the whole display. Anyone got a solution for this problem?

It sounds to be like you have a Show Widescreen while retaining default resolution instead of a Fit To Screen (which could crop images left/right top/bottom. Check the video settings in the application to let it redefine your screen size.

there also maybe a selection in your monitors osd that can change that also.

1440x900 is a 16:10 aspect ratio. 1280x720, 1366x768, 1920x1080 are 16:9 aspect ratios.

Can you tell me the exact model of the monitor? Is its native resolution 1440x900 or something else, I want to check.

Most likely your monitor is a 16:9 aspect ratio and it is set wrong in display settings. I say this because 16:9 doesn't produce black bars for you, which indicates that the monitor is a 16:9.

Also, I would check the display settings in your graphics card driver and see if it is set to fill the screen or fit the screen. Which graphics card do you have BTW?

My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with 2gb of vram and my monitor is a Genereic PnP monitor it's asus and 19". but how does 1440x900 fit my screen fine on desktop and in gta 5 but it wont work in just that one game?

Most 19 inch monitors are 1440x900 which is a 16:10 AR. But still, could you look at the monitor and find the model number just to be sure?

Could you please post the screenshots of the games and the resolution they are set at?
