If the monitor's max resolution is 1920 x 1080 , and the game's resolution is set to 1920 x 1080, then all pixels on the monitor are functioning...

But if we set the game's resolution to let's say 1600 x 900 , then how do the pixels on the monitor behave ? will they all be still working ? or only 1600 x 900 pixels work ?

Solution
The monitor will usually stretch the picture to fill the whole screen. It won't be as clear as the monitors native resolution but will still fill the screen
yeah, but what happens to pixels ? if the image and the monitor are both 1920 x 1080 then one pixel from the image is mapped to one pixel on the monitor.....what happens to pixels if the image is 1600 x 900 and the resolution is 1920 x 1080 ?

another question :

if the image is 1920 x 1080 , and the resolution is 1600 x 900....then what happens to pixels ?
