I was recording some gameplay of Black Ops 4 to show the micro stuttering I am getting and send it to the Treyarch support to help me with the issue. The game itself is stuttering a lot every few seconds, but when I record it and watch the recording its not stuttering at all, but it looks obvious that my aim is highly affected by the stutter and makes it look like I am playing with a controller. Is there any reason for that?

Stutter is a vague statement as there are different forms. For recording to show hardware stutters the fps would be sporadic and can be more often depending on thermal temps, hdd/ssd activity or ram causing hiccups which recording will show those if there was a problem as the recording won't magically fill missing frames dropped by the system.

Since your recordings appear smooth indicates to me the stutters you're seeing could be micro stutters at the monitor end? caused by exceeding the refresh rate? What monitor do you have? Does it have Freesync/Gsync? Tried Vsync?

I have been having performance issues with my current setup not achieving the FPS that should be achieved with this rig According to this site this combination should be getting me around 161 FPS in Apex Legends but I am getting around 60-100 fps only. Same goes to Rainbow Six Siege where it states I should be getting around 214 fps while I am still getting around 100fps only: https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu/amd-radeon-r9-390/intel-core-i7-6700-3-40ghz/low#mainads

Also I am getting micro stutters/screen tearing with Vsync off, so I am forced to turn it on and limit myself to 60fps =[
  • GPU: R9 390 8GB
  • CPU: i7 6700
  • Ram: 16GB
  • Games installed on SSD
  • PSU: 750W
I have no clue if the problem is the Rig itself or some settings I have not turned on/off, but I do have all the games I play on lowest settings to try to achieve highest FPS possible for me. I am not sure what information I should include or tests or anything I should do, please tell me and I will be more than happy to do it!

Maybe you'd get 161 FPS at 720p and low settings.. but at 1080p max your FPS sounds about right.
Same goes for rainbow 6.

Check your resolution, and make sure you have the latest radeon drivers

I am pushing for 1080 60fps with the following rig. Does the following parts work great together and dont cause bottleneck or any issues? How good would you rate this rig?
  • AMD R9 390 8GB
  • i7-6700
  • 16GB Ram
  • 750W

Motherboard, RAM speed and how many sticks? How much are you paying for the parts?

I dont remember those, will come back once I find them. I forgot to mention that I my father has already bought me these a couple of years ago and I currently play with them, was unsure if this rig will cause any bottlenecks and if need of upgrades

I'd say GPU would be the biggest thing. The 6700 is passible but considering its not overclockable and Intel is basically staying alive on being able to hit 5Ghz these days I dunno how it will perform now

Sorry for the slow reply, I did not get any notifications for this post for some reason. To answer your questions my monitor is 60hz, I have vsync disabled as I still experience micro stutter and lag with it on. I get around 110 fps, but still feels like less than 30. The monitor is neither freesync or gsync. I recorded some gameplay and the tech support for Black Ops 4 said they could not see anything, I checked it myself as well and its almost not there, but when I played I constantly got micro stutters it can be easily be seen in the very beginning of the clip where my aim goes locks at a very far distance from my opponent, it looks like no micro stutter, but when I played I got a micro stutter at that exact moment which sent my aim that far. Here is the clip: https://streamable.com/ph070

Do you have any idea why the benchmark on this site has such high FPS compared to mine in games? According to the following site I should be getting around 161 FPS in Apex Legends but I am getting around 60-100 fps only. I do have all the settings on low, so I am unsure what the problem is

You running Ram in dual or single channel?

Don't trust that site go on youtube and look for the specific card and cpu combo

A 4790K and a 390X only gets around 80-100 in apex looking at this video:

This system is similar to yours the CPU is only one refresh away so not much slower and the GPU isn't much different either so should net you around the same performance.

Oh that explains why! I will have a look on youtube then. Thank you!

Try cap fps to 59 using Afterburner. Then try vsync on or off while fps is capped.

Does FPS capping still work if I am playing the games in borderless fullscreen mode, because of two monitor setup? I have tried AMD's FPS capper inside of radeon settings and I feel no difference, nothing gets capped as well as none of the settings in the gaming tab has any affect in the actual game
