I play a lot of a pc game called halo infinite, not important but anyway the next day when I start up my computer. "gameinputhost service" is still using like 40-50% ram using in memory on task manager. The whole pc runs 20c hotter than it should be when not gaming until I end task in task manager. Then the ram drops to normal idling conditions, and the gpu going into power saving mode since theres nothing on it running anymore.

Does anyone know whats going on and why it does this? Shouldn't it not.. To be simply put, not sure where in nvidia control panel or even the xbox app I could maybe disable something in startup tab on task manager? ect. Any help on the issue, I duno where to disable being a "gameinputhost" the service seems unnecessary and a bit phishy..

Where did you source the installer for the game? What OS are you working with? Are you working with any game controller?

Have a read through this;

It's literally a microsoft playstore game from windows 11, launches right from there. yeah. I use a wired xbox controller. I don't get why it needs me to keep hosting after i shut the game down for the day.. let alone the next day when I restart my laptop.

Look in Task Manager > Startup and Task Scheduler. The latter may be triggering another process of some sort.

It may be that one or the other is launching a process that runs in the background and continues to run after the game is ended and/or the controller software is launched.

You can also use Process Explorer (Microsoft, free) to look for and identify unexpected processes that are launching and running.

Could be a buggy or corrupted process that fails to stop when it should. Or intentionally left running for other TBD reasons. Or lazy coding....

Once a potential culprit is identified then focus shifts to disabling that process.

Do not immediatedly start shutting down, disabling, or uninstalling anything until more is known.

And, as always, ensure that all important data is backed up at least 2 x to locations away from the computer/laptop.

Verify that the backups are recoverable and readable.

disabled the entire process tree in task manager it was using like 400k mb of memory. I ran a windows defender scan for any virus' restarted and it seems to be doing better. Thanks!
