Gamer Girl. OC Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB or 780 3GB?

My setup:
1. Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz CPU
2. Gigabyte GTX 760 OC
3. Asus P8-H77-I Motherboard
4. Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz
5. Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST
6. 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue Hard Drive
7. Arctic White BitFenix Prodigy Case
8. Airlink WiFi USB
10. 600W Corsair CX600 Power Supply

I am looking to upgrade from my OC Gigabyte 760 2GB to one of the following:

1.Gigabyte GTX 770 GDDR5-4GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC WINDFORCE 3X Graphics Card GV-N770OC-4GD (Base: 1137 MHz, Boost:1189 MHz )

2. Gigabyte GTX 780 GDDR5-3GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC Graphics Card GV-N780OC-3GD REV2.0 (Base: 954MHz, Boost:1006MHz)

I am interested in playing games on Ultra at and sometimes above 1080p. Rumor has it that future PC games will need at least 3GB of VRAM to even run in Ultra on 1080p (e.g. Ubisoft's Watch Dogs already has this requirement). Will selecting a 770 for its 4GB VRAM be a wiser choice?

The other thing I noticed is that the clock speed is higher on the 770 than on the 780. Does that mean the OC Gigabyte 770 is faster than the 780?

Or maybe I should wait for the upcoming GTX 870 & 880 that might launch in September?

I ask too many questions. Thank you for your help and advice. I am a mid-range newb.

You would never need 4GB, so 3GB is enough.

The Gtx 780 is better at high res then the Gtx 770, because of the chip. Memory matters indeed but it matters more if the card is fast and has enough cores.
Do you want the Gtx 780 because you get a free copy of watchdogs? Because on 1444P the R9 290 is a bit faster then the Gtx 780 and also a bit cheaper. Though it runs hotter, and there are a bit more people that have problems with the card. Though I think it's woth to consider because it can save you some money.

Another option is wait for the Gtx 880 release, because the prices of other graphics cards may drop too.
But if you think you really need a upgrade now then upgrade it!

I went from a 670 which is almost the same as your 760 to a 780ti and love the difference. I had a 780 for two weeks but once I saw the ti on sale it was really worth it.

Edit: In less it's urgent wait for next months 8xx series launch.
