Hello,

I reinstall windows every 6-12 months, just because it gets much faster and I wipe out all unnecessary files. However, I have two partitions - 1 for OS (60gb) and second one for programs and games (800gb). Whenever I reinstall windows, I am not able to play my games from the second partition, it's always missing something. Is there any way to save registry, w/e and what do you guys do when you are in my situation? (if you ever were).

Thanks in advance :)

If it's to much work to do for yourself get your butler to do it for you:)

I have around ~40 games and I don't really feel like reinstalling them all the time, I was just looking for a quick way to do it, for e.g registry backups or similar, I didn't want to get yelled at. Thanks for responses though :)

This will never work. You cannot backup your entire registry and then simply use them on your newly formatted system again.
Also finding every single registry entry for every single game you have installed, is like finding the needle in the hay. It would take forever.

Another issue apart from the registry are drivers and additional software that some games require. When you install a game, sometimes drivers that are specifically needed for that game, are placed into the system folders, which obviously will get deleted upon format.
Also 3rd party software that the games require and are usually also installed while installing the game, such as .NET Framework, MS Redistributable, Windows Live and many others, are installed on C: by default. All of them will also be gone.

Honestly, this will always end up in one big mess. When installing games you install so much more than just the game files. So many drivers and 3party software are installed across your system.

Steam however has a great Backup function. It makes a real backup with all the files required. Only works for steam games though.
